Admission Completed for 2010 ¡°Higher Education Assistance Project for Orphans and Disabled Children¡±

With the support from the officials of the Ministry of Civil Affairs and Ministry of Education, CCAA continues to cooperate with Changsha Vocational School of Civil Affairs to carry out the ¡°Higher Education Assistance Project for Orphans and Disabled Children¡± (hereinafter referred to as ¡°Assistance Project¡±). Now the admission work is successfully completed with the cooperation of local Departments of Civil Affairs and welfare institutions.

Approved by the Ministry of Education, the ¡°Assistance Project¡± enrolls students from 14 provinces such as Tianjin, Hebei, Liaoning, etc. In 2010, altogether 115 students who are orphans applied to join the ¡°Assistance Project¡± and passed the review of the local Education and Examination authority as eligible candidates for the exclusive admission exam. From mid April to mid May, these students took the exam of Changsha Vocational School of Civil Affairs in their respective province. In early June, 79 students from 37 welfare institutes in 12 provinces such as Tianjin, Hebei, Shanxi, etc. passed the exam and became the candidate students supported by the ¡°Assistance Project¡±. At the end of June, admission notices were sent by CCAA to local departments of civil affairs or welfare institutes. These students will enter school in September and receive a three-year college education.

With the completion of this year¡¯s admission work, there are already altogether 127 orphan students supported by the ¡°Assistance Project¡± studying in Changsha Vocational School of Civil Affairs. Except the 17 who entered the school in 2008, all the students have their tuition fees and life expenses covered by the Ministry welfare lottery fund.
