| Chengdu¡¯s Children Welfare Institute is leading towards
the direction of ¡°raise, teach, and cure¡±. Healthy school age
children are all sent to nearby elementary and high school to
attend classes, while pre-school children receives nursery and
kindergarten education training within the institute. Children
with mild to moderate disabilities will go through physio-therapy
training and special education. Severely disabled children will
receive special care and medical treatments. Suiting to different
levels of needs and care, our institute has implemented 5 types
of care including: institute care, individual adoption, community
sponsored care, and branch institution substitute care. In order
to help the children with disabilities and deformities to relive
the joy and warmth from family, our institute has promoted family
mentor program, in which we hire qualified parents and place
8 children in each family, allowing these children to have a
healthy and normal growth, helping them to develop their individuality
as opposed to institutionalization of a child. As a result,
the children will have a good base for their future development
and we will fulfill our underlying principle of ¡°the well-being
of individual comes first¡±.
Our institute¡¯s Disability Children Rehab and Training Center,
is one of UNICEIF¡¯s ¡°phase 3 project cooperative units¡±. Our
center has a team of expertise and technical staff who underwent
domestic and overseas professional training, supplemented with
our country¡¯s best physio-therapy training equipments. We take
community action to help children with cerebral palsy, mental
disability, deaf and mute, and to provide these children with
physical, mental, and language training.
In order to promote the development of children¡¯s welfare,
Chengdu Children¡¯s Welfare Institute will continue to work hard
on our commitment to ¡°All for Children, and For Children¡¯s All¡±
by contributing all our efforts to create a better tomorrow
for the orphans and children with disabilities and deformities.
