Chongqing Children’s Welfare Institute is located in the beautiful Hua Xi County in southern Chongqing. It is specialized in taking in orphaned children and children with disability.

Chongqing Welfare Institute’s predecessor was Chongqing Children Education and Foster Care Institute. In March, 1950, “Baby Care Center”, “Nursery Care Center” and “Orphanage” merged together to form the Institute. It was once merged with Chongqing Welfare Institute in 1975. In 1984, it was reconstructed and remodeled and it has remained in use since.

Our institute has an area of over 90 hectares, with construction area of nearly 20 000 square meters. There is more then 140 staff members, amongst them, over 120 are teachers, trainers and medical staff. Representing Chongqing’s largest, and fully equipped Children’s Welfare Service Center, we provide orphaned and handicapped children with nursing care and education, medical and rehabilitation, special education, family foster care, disabled children custody care etc. and also provide many kinds of services such as medical and health recovery training, and children’s health and nutritional programs etc.

For a long time, our staff has deeply embedded values to contribute all their kindness and effort to these children, giving to children’s needs and aiding with children’s growth and helping them to adapt and integrate into society. We strive to develop our Institute into a Center with care and education, medical rehabilitation, special education, nursery education and family foster care.

With our country developing towards the path to deinstitutionalize social welfare, we work to help achieve the goals to “Family well-being is the best child’s well-being, to return to a family, and to reintegrate into society is every child’s physical and psychological need and their long endeared wish”.

In recent years, Chongqing Children’s Welfare Institute persisted in the development path to deinstitutionalize Children’s welfare by actively promoting child adoption, family foster care, medical rehab, special education, young children’s education and many other programs, to help children actualized their wish to return to society, and to their family, and allowing them to share a bright future with other children.
