The 1st Nationwide Training for Physical Therapist £¨Brain Paralysis£© in Children¡¯s Welfare Institutions Held in Chongqing

The 1st Nationwide Training for Physical Therapist £¨Brain Paralysis£© in Children¡¯s Welfare Institutions was held in Chongqing from the 7th to 19th of April, 2008, sponsored by the CCAA, as a commission of Tomorrow Plan Office of the Ministry of Civil Affairs. This training for Physical Therapist for Brain Paralysis fills up the gaps in brain paralysis rehabilitation training in Children¡¯s Welfare Institutions, and provides strong support in technical issues and manpower. Staff members from 30 Children¡¯s Welfare Institutions in 24 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) attended the training.

Focusing on the status quo of brain-paralyzed children in welfare institutions and coached by senior pediatric experts from Xinqiao Hospital (affiliated to the Third Military Medicine Institute), the training consisted of many professional courses, such as general introduction for children with brain paralysis, paralysis complications and countermeasures, physical therapy, treatment and rehabilitation after surgery for brain paralyzed children, training of brain paralyzed children¡¯s daily behavioral ability and traditional medical treatment for brain paralysis. The students were also trained on practical skills in brain paralysis rehabilitation. The 30 students completed the training with great success after 13 days of professional training.

On April 16th, Deputy Director of the Tomorrow Plan Office and director of Department II of Social Welfare and Social Affairs Division, Ministry of Civil Affairs, Gan Weiwei, and a member of the Tomorrow Plan Office, also director of the Domestic Adoption Department of CCAA, Ji Gang, attended and inspected the training. Director Gan Weiwei spoke highly of the training organization, teaching schedule and the students¡¯ hard work.

The 2nd and 3rd training sessions of Nationwide Training for Physical Therapist £¨Brain Paralysis£©in Children¡¯s Welfare Institutions will be launched in succession.
