--2007 Report of the Use of Contribution and Child-Care Projects

In 2007, the following child care projects have been well operated with full support by 24 Adoption agencies from America, Spain, Demark, etc.

I. Organization of 16 training sessions in 5 categories

1. Six sessions of Caretaker Training supported by Bethany Christian Services, Great Wall China Adoption, China Adoption With Love, Inc., AAC Adoption £¦ Family Network, Inc. and World Association for Children and Parents, to provide caregivers with training on the know-how and skills of scientific nurturing. 180 staff members from orphanages received the training and acquired certificate of intermediate qualification.

2. Two sessions of Nutritionist Training supported by Children¡¯s Home Society of Minnesota, focusing on the knowledge of children¡¯s nutrition and formula supplement with a syllabus according to National Professional Standards for Nutritionist. 100 nutritionists acquired the professional certificate after the training.

3. Two sessions of Trainings on Post Operational Rehabilitation for Children with Special Needs supported by Chinese Children Adoption International, focusing on the basic theories of traditional Chinese medicine, health care skills, pediatric treatment through exercises and rehabilitation treatment for children with brain paralysis. 100 rehabilitation therapists got the profession certificate.

4. Three sessions of Psychologist Training supported by Asociacion Para EL Cuidado De La Infancia, Ac International Child Support, focusing on children¡¯s psychology, psychological health of special needs children and intervention on psychological problems. 150 therapists for orphaned and handicapped children got their certificate of qualification.

5. Two sessions of Training for SWI Directors supported by Holt International Children¡¯s Services and Harrah¡¯s Adoption International Mission, to learn management theory, policies and regulations, child nurturing know-how, donation management and issues on foreign affairs. 100 directors of the orphanages received the training.

6. One session of senior director training has been operated in cooperation with International Social Service Hong Kong Branch, participated by directors from 25capital cities. The training aims to introduce the rich nurturing experiences of Hong Kong Welfare Institutions so as to produce a group of senior leaders of institutions with wide international horizon and updated viewpoints.
