The five-day Hope Journey Camp successfully closed in Huairou, Beijing on July 20th. Twenty children of 8-12 years old, from social welfare institutions of Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Henan and Hubei Provinces, staff of the CCAA, social workers and volunteer families of foreign adoption agency attended the camp.
The Summer Camp facing old children of social welfare institutions was held by the CCAA and sponsored by a foreign adoption agency with fund and social workers. The purpose of the camp was to broaden children’s horizon through colorful activities to create conditions of returning to families. During the camp, children visited the Tian’anmen Square, the Beijing Zoo, the Mutianyu Great Wall and Yanxi Lake, learned the American culture and related knowledge about inter-country adoption. In the lively and interesting activities with a scientific schedule, children learned knowledge, improved ability, rewarded friendship and got beautiful and deep impressions. With the joint efforts of the Chinese and American staff, nannies of the social welfare institutions and active participation of the children, the camp got to be a big success. Jiang Meng, who is from the Shiyan Social Welfare Institution of Hubei Province, said in the closing ceremony that “we had a nice time in the camp, learned a lot of new things, made many new friends.” |
It was the first time for CCAA to hold this kind of summer camp. In order to organize the camp successfully, the CCAA made good preparation of schedule design, activity arrangement, and food and accommodation arrangement according to the children’s situation.
